Tarella Cottage – Open Day

31 July 2022 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

“Tarella”, the Blue Mountains Historical Society’s historic cottage, will be open for public inspection on Sunday 31 July 2022 from 10.00am – 3.00pm (last entry 2.45pm)

Acquaint yourself with our 19th Century holiday cottage at 99 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls and learn how it became a permanent home for the Mclaughlin sisters.

The parlour, just to the left of the front door, has an interesting fire guard. It was embroidered by Mrs Anne Fletcher, wife of the founder of Katoomba College. In 1883, Anne had embroidered the velvet bag in which “the Ashes of English Cricket” were returned to England with the English cricketers who had been visiting Australia.

We are very proud of our piece of Anne’s work. Come along and see it.

Entry: Adults $5.00; Children $2.00.
