Blue Mountains Historical Society – Monthly meeting, Guest speaker John Low

On Saturday 2 July 2022, the Blue Mountains Historical Society will hold its next public meeting and talk commencing at 10.30am at the History Research Rooms at 99 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls.

Our guest speaker is John Low whose talk will relate to his latest book, “Blue Mountains Byways”.

John will talk about the importance of stories to our relationship with the places in which we live. He will tell a few stories drawn from the history of the Blue Mountains, some included in the book and some not.

John Low was the Local Studies Librarian at the Blue Mountains City Library 1982-2007. In 2012 he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to the Blue Mountains as a librarian and local historian. He was on the Blue Mountains City Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee 2014–2022.

John has published numerous articles on local history and several books including Blue Mountains Byways (2021).

Tea and coffee are available for a gold-coin donation from 9.45 am. Entry to the talk is free to members, $5.00 for non-members. Copies of John’s book will be on sale.
