WHAT THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES HOLDS FOR YOU.
Blue Mountains Historical Society will hold this March 6th Public Meeting and Zoom Talk from 10.00 am in the History Research Rooms at 99 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls.

FIONA BURN, current President of the Society and retired Assistant director at the National Archives of Australia, will share her knowledge of sources for local history held in the National Archives. These comprise Post Office records, Commonwealth Land and Property records including plans and photographs, post WWII Land Settlement records, records of the Security Services and special records such as Hotel Files and Manpower records created as part of Wartime Regulations.

About Fiona:
After completing a B. A. and a Graduate Diploma in Information Management – Archives Administration, Fiona Burn joined the National Archives of Australia, Sydney Office in 1983. She worked in most functional areas of the National Archives and was the Assistant Director of the Access and Communications Program responsible for reference service and public programs from 1997 until 2011. In a transition to retirement, she returned to her first love of research, working as a Reference Officer. She retired in December 2015, although she has continued to undertake part-time, short- term contracts at the National Archives. She often volunteers one day a week at the National Archives when not in contract employment.
Since her retirement, Fiona has been active in BMACHO, and in 2020 was elected President of the Blue Mountains Historical Society. She is also chair of the Archives Working Group of BMHS.
There are a limited number of seats available in our seminar room for members and visitors, as Fiona will be presenting in person. If you wish to take one of these places (15 in total) please telephone the Society on 4757 3824 next Tuesday or Friday from 10.00 am to 2.00pm – or leave a message on the answering machine outside those hours. Tea and Coffee will be available from 9.30 am.
