BMHS 80th Anniversary Celebrations – 22 August at the Carrington Hotel, Katoomba
BMHS members and friends are invited to attend a morning function to celebrate the Society’s 80th Anniversary at the Carrington Hotel from 10am to 12pm on Saturday 22 August 2026.
Graham Warmbath, a former BMHS President, will give a short reminiscence about earlier days at BMHS. Our guest speaker, Paul Innes, will speak about the history of the Carrington Hotel in the 1940s. The emcee for the morning will be Bruce Ferrier and Colin Semmler will provide musical entertainment. A buffet morning tea, including both hot and cold platters, will be provided.
The cost is $45. Booking and payment, essential for catering purposes, can be completed through the web site shop in the ‘Services’ section. Payment by credit/debit card can be done any Tuesday or Friday at the BMHS Research Centre or after the Meeting and Talk on Saturday 1 August. You can also pay by EFT using the following banking details: Name: BMHS Westpac; BSB 032-826; Acct 170205. Please make sure you include your name and the words “80 Anniversary”. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to pay on the day.

Renewal of BMHS Membership– Due 1 July 2026
Thank you to those members who have renewed their membership for the 2026-27 Membership Year. Your continued support is greatly appreciated as, without it, the Society simply could not operate.
We would urge those members who have not yet renewed to consider doing so in the near future to assist us with meeting the substantial costs of operating both the Society and maintaining our historic house, Tarella.

August Monthly Meeting and Talk – Khaki and Green – Saturday 1 August 2026
Michael Keats, with Brian Fox and Yuri Bolotin, will present a talk based on their recent book “Khaki and Green; The Story of War Games Preceding the Formation of the Wollemi National Park”.
The meeting begins at 10.30am in the BMHS Research Meeting Room. Morning tea is available from 10am.The talk is, of course, free to members and $5 for non-members. So, don’t forget to bring your friends.
Tarella Verandah Decking Appeal
Thank you to the members who have very kindly and generously contributed to this appeal. We are still short of the estimated $20,000 replacement cost.
