Maintenance and projects update – November 2024

Various projects are currently underway or planned at the Blue Mountains Historical Society in addition to the ongoing regular maintenance undertaken by volunteers

Following are photos illustrating two of these activities.

Work on the front fence is still under way. A big job being carried out by our enthusiastic volunteer, Stephen.

Workman recently evaluated the bullnose verandah at the front of Tarella. Replacement of the verandah roof will shortly take place. This work will be undertaken by builders experienced in managing work on heritage structures.  Approval for the work has also been obtained from the the Heritage Officers at Blue Mountains City Council.

Additional projects, which will be undertaken early in the new year, will involve the construction of a new resource storage room at the eastern end of the Hobby’s Reach Research Centre and, pending approval by the BMCC, will be the removal of  very old Radiata Pine trees along the western boundary of the BMHS property, which may present a safety hazard.

Updates on these projects will be posted later in January.
