Kerrie Dougherty :- “From the Outback to Outer Space: a history of Australian space activities”

Kerrie Dougherty OAM is a Senior Program and Operations Officer at the Australian Space Agency’s Space Discovery Centre in Adelaide. Formerly Curator of Space Technology at the Powerhouse Museum, Kerrie developed Australia’s first major space exhibition and has consulted on the development of space exhibitions and public awareness programs for other institutions in Australia and internationally. She is a space historian, curator, educator and author, with specialist interests in the history of Australian space activities and the relationship between space and popular culture. Her most recent book is “Australia in Space” (ATF Press, 2017), a comprehensive history of Australia’s space activities. Kerrie lectures in the Department of Space Humanities at the International Space University, based in Strasbourg, France and is an elected Member of the International Academy of Astronautics. She serves on its History of Astronautics and Space and Museums Committees. Kerrie also works with the Space Education and Outreach Committee of the International Astronautical Federation.

 

There are a limited number of seats available in the meeting room for members to watch the presentation in person on the large screen.

  1. Tea and coffee will be available from 9.30 am.
  2. To reserve one of the places (28 in total  with some relaxing of COVID 19 restrictions) please telephone the Society on 4757 3824 on either Tuesday or Friday between 10am and 2pm.
  3. If you can’t telephone during those hours, please leave a message but note that places may be filled before the message is received.

 

Booking is essential as we must monitor the Covid 19 capacity of the room.

Please be aware that all Zoom participants will be able to converse together before the beginning of the meeting but we will mute all participants as the presentation begins. This is to avoid problems with participants not realising they are live on air and chatting etc which can affect the sound quality of the presentation) If you are watching via Zoom and have any questions during the presentation please use the CHAT function to email your questions which the speaker will address at the conclusion of her presentation.
